Where do people go when they can no longer function in society?

No, I don't qualify for an old-folks home. This started as soon as I moved from home when 21. I've moved over 45 times now and I can't take it anymore. Everybody hates me because I malfunction way too much and they think I'm faking it. What should I do? Besides self-destruct. Is there anywhere I can go?

Update:

I don't give a hoot if I 'fit in.' I just want the false accusations and the robbery to stop.

Update 2:

Getting a job as a waiter? Well, in a perfect world, that would be great. I have spasms, I can't think or remember, and as a result, I get yelled at all the time. It would be nice if I can hold a job and an apartment.

Update 3:

This is NOT a question about effort it takes to function in society. This is a question about physical and mental handicap.

For the most part, people that can no longer function in society usually end up in jail...

Except for a few rare instances, I believe the idea that people no longer being able to function in society is more about personal choice rather than circumstance. In other words, it seems to me people that can no longer function in society usually choose to be that way! I fully understand that there are those with medical and/or mental conditions that keep them from being able to do basic tasks like tie their own shoes but a lot of people use the excuse that they have a medical condition just to mask the truth that they just don't want to function in society. After all, how much effort does it take to function in society?

You have to get out of bed in the morning!

You have to be able to physically feed yourself!

    You have to work!

And you should be moderately polite in some manner by respecting others although a lot of people don't even do that.

    So how hard is that?

What else does it take to function in society?

After all, how much effort does it really take?

OH... And this is NOT an answer about physical and mental handicaps. This is an answer about people using the physical and mental handicap "excuse" because they don't want to function in society.

Persons finding themselves that they can " no longer function in society " stay away from society. If one is strong willed, one should be able to function within society or out of society. Your aspiration of being a waiter is great but do you think you will be able to serve the right table with an order if you say you cannot " think or remember "? I will be inclined to go for things that would not bring an embarrassment to you.

If you don't "give a hoot,,," then I will ignore what people say & get on with your life. There is more ahead of you yet to explore & enjoy. Not knowing exactly what your physical & mental handicap is, I cannot be very accurate in advising you as to what you can consider in way of jobs. If you have not yet sought advise from social service, it will be a good idea to consider this.now.

Where I live the mental institutions are mostly full. I know this because I was reading a newspaper article about a killer. The article said, "He should be in a mental home for psychiatric evaluation, but at the moment they are full and there are waiting lists." His lawyer said, "I will buy an extra bed for the mental institution." But the police just kept the guy in jail!! So yeah don't think it will be easy to get into a mental home. My suggestion is get a very easy job like being a waiter. Its pretty mindless, you smile at the people and carry around plates of food. That will at least you give an income to survive on. You can even wash dishes for money.

Maybe see a psychologist. If you think you malfunction, maybe you do. Try social service organizations as a start. Good luck.
