Microbes have been used to aid in preserving food for long term storage. Acetobacter produce vinegar from fruit juices and alcohols. If they get into the winemaking reactions they can turn wine into vinegar so some species are beneficial at times.

Cheese is made from milk by a succession of microbes. The first is a result of fermentation of lactose to lactic acid by Lactobacteria & Streptococci bacteria plus hydrolytic conversion of proteins by Streptococcus thermophilus to improve texture. The specific consistency & flavor of cheese results from how the milk is handled and the species of microbe (bacteria, yeast, fungi) present in the ripening stages.

Bacteria are the sources of our original antimicrobials. Many soil bacteria and fungi during normal growth produce antibiotics or are hyperparasitic on harmful fungi, as a result they inhibit root pathogens.

Actinomycetes are bacteria that gave us actinomycin.

Streptomyces canus are actinomycete filamentous bacteria that gave us amphomycin

    Bacillus subtilis gave us bacitracin

Streptomyces griseus gave us cycloheximide, grisein & streptomycin

Penicillium genus of fungi gave us penicillin so not all are from bacteria.

Human commensal bacteria help us digest the food we consume and provide us with essential nutrients like vitamin K, B12 & B6 we cannot make ourselves but are essential for us to live. There are over 800 known species living in humans but people do not have all species resident. Different populations of people have different collectives of gut bacteria meaning each population has a microbial fingerprint of normal gut flora.

Our beneficial gut bacteria also play a role in developing the gut immune responses.

Infants immune system is not competent at birth but undergoes a period of 'instruction' from the many sources. Breast milk provides immunologic factors and even exposure to bacteria during birth and from parents handling the infant promote maturation of the immune system.

Soil bacteria are in symbiotic relationships with plants but may give the additional benefit to humans, working bare handed in the soil, by raising serotonin levels. Mycobacterium vaccae activate brain neurons that produce serotonin.

Make it a compare and contrast paragraph. Start out with the importance of good bacteria in maintaining homeostasis in the human body and describe the ways in which bacteria works symbiotically with organisms for mutual benefit. Then make the transition into bad bacteria by saying that with such a vast population of bacteria on our planet, parasitic, predatory, and pathogenic relationships also arise. Then describe them. Pathogenic bacteria is one of the main causes of death and disease in humans. You can then conclude that bacteria is the driving force of balanced life on this planet, but it is also one of our worst enemies.

Paraphrase obviously. Use your textbook for the technical information and fluff it up as much as you can. Trust me, as long as you act like you know what you're talking about and put at least some relevant information in there, this paragraph will be a piece of cake. Don't even worry about it. 5-10 sentences and you're done.

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.

According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv/ and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.
