Why do people keep using the political spectrum?
From Left to Right when the 20th and 21st centuries have discredited it. The Nazis were Far Right but by today's standards they would be comparable to Anarchist while Libertarianism have some conservative principals yet are totally at odds with Islamism and corporatism.
It defeats the purpose to apply such terms as left wing or right wing, liberal or conservative. You can be socially liberal but fiscally conservative. Then we have the Greens, Communists and socialists who are different again. Some are Eco fascists while others are Progressive Democrats.
I smile at those who call Global Warming a hoax because they take the Green agenda way too seriously. I also know of many left of centre parties adopting populist measures that come across as down right Fascist.

Your stated 'facts' are self contradicatory. Sadly, most of the people answering you don't realize that.
Troll.

Think Progress,” the blog of the liberal advocacy group Center for American Progress, has posted yet another cause of “global warming.” The international war on drugs. Making drugs like cocaine and heroin legal would save the planet. Incidentally, because of global warming, al-Qaeda is thriving in the Middle East.
ya gotta (((hug))) the neck of those progressives!

Please explain how you can compare the extremely methodical, incredibly powerful, militaristic, fascist German government of the '30s and '40s to anarchists.
That simply makes no sense.
Anarchists don't create large and powerful governments. That is the polar opposite of what an anarchist believes should be done.
@Slim Cheesy: Frankly... simple and straightforward facts (in this case facts based upon the very definition of the the WORD "fascist" .....don't much care if you personally agree with them or not.

Notions of "left" and "right" are skewed by the context of location.
There really is no truly "conservative" party of significance in the U.S. for example, at least as it pertains to economics, just Liberalism, and Liberalism 2.0. Even the "social conservatives" aren't really all that conservative compared to much of the world. There is no "right wing" of note in the U.S., and neither is there really a "left wing" to speak of. Just warring factions of liberals.

Those labels are all just ways to keep people busy arguing, and keep them from realizing the truth - there is no 'two-party' system in America.
It's a one-party system, with only one agenda - propagating itself.

it's a useful method to make a broad point!..if you don't like it don't USE it!.and I get angry at people such as yourself who have no background in climatology trying to lecture ME in science!.I don't give a good (expletive deleted) if you have a degree in sociology or some other science not related to climatology!..as far as "left of centre(sic) parties coming off as down right fascist", fascism IS a Leftist philosophy!

"spectrum" is a good way to define a range of related values. it started as colors of light but now has wider definition.
how do we compare related but different rings.?

When you pretend everything is a matter of a left opinion and a right opinion, you limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion and control the people.

I don't agree the Nazi's were far right, National Socialism, clues in the name, lefties like to gloss over that and the Gulags

totalitarian regimes such as the NAZIs have nothing to do with either right of left
