Medical Deductions For an Individual?

If I drive one or more of my neighbors to a medical appointment, of any nature, on a more or less regular basis, would I be able to deduct the mileage as a medical expense on my own return? If not as a medical expense, could I deduct the mileage as a charitable expense?

Also, in your reply could you, in your answer, if possible, provide me with location of where this information is located in publication 15?

I am not going to bother looking up the references. It is not charitable because you only get charitable deductions for contributions to 501c3 organizations or churches, not individuals. It is not your medical expense, because you only get the medical deduction for yourself or your dependents. It is Pub 17, not Pub 15. Look under medical deductions and charitable contributions.
