What is American Food to you?
I know hamburgers are (from either Hamburg New York, a nearby town, even this is disputed). Hot dogs, when put in a bun. Chowders and some other regional foods, but what does someone think of as "American Food"?

There is a large variety of American foods and it cannot be confined to just one style, cuisine or geographic location.
For instance: There is new york style clam chowder as well as southern chowder.
There is Southern fried cjhicken as well as Maryland fried chicken
There is Cajun cooking from the south which includes spicy and home cooked meals roasted, braised or barbeque.
There is also a style of cooking called Midwestern cuisine.
we must not forget al of he different styles of seafood from the Northeastern part of the united States as well as the seafood style from the South and the Western style seafood cuisine from the far West.
