Farm fresh eggs from a small farm are often fertile too you know.
I raised my own chickens for years and yes they were fertile eggs.Ditto when I was a kid.
I also eat store eggs but prefer farm eggs when I can get them.
the whole, fertile or not makes no difference to me. It doesn't effect flavor, nutrition or storage times in way.
IF the fertile egg was NOT washed and not refrigerated and kept at a specific temp and humidity reading for 21 days, it would yield a chick. If those criteria are not met, its just an egg.

Our anti-nutrition/industrial complex has determined that the only eggs reasonably available in my area is large or extra-large white eggs. I am told that the color of the eggs does not matter. So I prefer white eggs and when I hard-boiled them I add leftover onion skins and my boiled eggs become brown thus giving me a way to identify which eggs are cooked.
