Can I transfer Windows from 1 laptop to another?
I have a good quality laptop with a version of Windows in it that is corrupt thanks to a so called mobile computer mechanic who put in an unauthorised version after replacing the hard drive. I have a very bad Samsung lappy that I don't want and was wondering if I could transfer its Windows (came with the machine when I bought it) into the other. If so how and would I need some sort of activation code?

Hi..
If the OEM licence sticker is on the base and readable and has not been stolen by the mechanic.
Down load an iso of your version of windows (That you have not listed)and create bootable media...
Or for the less computer minded.
Go to eBay and buy a recovery/re-Install disc and use your legitimate product key..to do a fresh install of windows
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601....
PS..
To answer your question NO the oem licence prevents it and you would also have driver issues preventing a boot up ,
The exception is if the two laptops are the identical model & internal Hardware ....

make a image of the windows and restore it on the other pc you will get some errors like drivers and activation .
which can solve be reinstalling the correct drivers and providing activation codes.

If you have a memory stick then maybe you could put it on there and try and transfer it. This is just a thought I cannot guarantee it will work.
Hope I helped!
