1) What was the 'defect' in the 4 generations of cygnets that were to be destroyed? How were they going to fix it?

1. The 'defect' was that they were beginning to remember their sponsors past. They were developing memories that they weren't given when they were 'born'. To rectify this, the company were going to destroy (kill) all the defected clones and have the sponsors come back in to have their 'insurance policy' re-created.
2. We can already clone sheep and create new body parts, who is to say that in a few hundred years we won't develop the technology to clone humans.
3. I never thought of that idea when I watched the movie.
