What do you think of this new a-atheist position one of our fellow R&S members has come up with?

He's making a point that I find very valid. Atheists make assumptions about Christianity and are against it based on their assumptions. So not believing what an atheists believes is a valid point. An a-atheist is someone who doesn't have to believe in a god and doesn't have to believe in the absence of a god.

Atheism is an -ism, not a -lology. You have beliefs, not logic. Rational or irrational is subjective. So he just chooses to be use common sense and not ligate (re-ligion) himself to your beliefs system by infact negating it. It's an unfortunate blunder of the language that it becomes a double negative.

I think it's a great idea. I find it very telling how so many people got mad about it.

    It's asinine.

Clearly atheism makes no claims for him to disbelieve.

I suppose you could disbelieve someone's disbelief....but so what?

It's also redundant, since atheism is nothing more than a response to god-claims to begin with, circling back around behind and being against atheism is just finding yet another way to be an obnoxious xian.

We have enough of those already.

But if it makes him happy to think he's clever, then who cares? Atheists can see right through it and it's just one more on a large heap of delusions for him....so live and let live.

Liam, you and your little sock-puppet accounts are pathetic.

When are you going to provide evidence for your god?

Why do you jolly around trying to divert attention away from the fact you can't?

    Why can't Christians be honest?

    Why can’t they just say:

"I know my beliefs are illogical, but I've been brainwashed into believing these things my entire life."

    OR

"I am too weak to live in this world, without the hope that there is someone watching over me, and I need to believe in an afterlife".

    OR

"I am too scared to even consider the possibility that there is no God, for fear of being punished by him".

    OR

"The thought of hell is so terrifying to me, that I have to believe, and be good".

I think it's a word game. Semantics is not particularly interesting to me.

That's a pretty odd position to take. It seems someone finds us very threatening.

He does not believe that not believing in gods is a valid choice? Well, I find that highly ignorant.

Meh, it's just an example of pseudo-intellectualism, equivocation, and humor.

We know it's you Liam - this obvious self-promotion is pathetic.

Edit: It appears i'm mistaken... my apologies.

    I took care of it.

essentially meaningless, if he/she doesn't elaborate on what position other than atheism they hold, because that's all a-atheism means until they do.
