How can I turn the auto focus off the canon powershot sx500 is?
When I record a video the focus keeps going in and out all the time and I was wondering how I turn this off.
If I do turn it off will it stop it from focusing on things I want it to?

That's right... that's why I always recommend not using auto focus in video.
Most of these smaller cameras you can't turn it off because you have no way to focus otherwise. It's a mess I know but there's only one way around it, buy a different camera - a dslr.
