What is the best thing to do?

Have a 02 Hyundai Sonata that the transmissions is going bad in it. It has over 100,000 milles on it.

What is the best thing to do buy a rebuilt transmission, purchase a certified used car, or buy a new car all together. I do not want to go in debt on a high priced car , but would be willing a buy reasonable priced new or used car. Just worry about not knowing what problems you get into in used cars. Any and all input would be much appreciated.

I would fix your existing car if it is reliable and in good shape. 100,000 on a Hyundia is nothing, those cars run forever. You got to remember allot of Used cars are someone else's headache thats why they traded it in on a new one. This is just my opinion but spending a grand or so fixing your car that you know and love makes more financial sense than spending upwards of 20 grand on a used one and taking the risk of getting a lemon.
