Do you think Mick Dodge is real?

Seems fake to me. He finds "wheels" ( 2inch thick disks inexplicably cut out of logs and left on the ground by a lumber company) they show him boring holes with chisels--- but not really--- suddenly he's done and there are two perfect holes in the far too convenient disks as well as another perfect 3/8in. hole through 2 inches of a pine pole (used as an axle) to pound through and hold the wheel on. The nylon cord he found "by the coast" (the coastal Walmart?) used to tie his "truck" together still has the kinks in it from the packaging.

He trades berries for gunpoweder, candles and kerosene ("lamp oil") hanging a leather bag of them on a ladie's door. A NICE leather bag. One that would've taken a week to make with tools available in the wild --- assuming one even COULD properly tan, cut and sew together animal skin out there in the forest. Something he would likely use heavily every day, and therefore certainly would NOT leave hanging on a door with $3 worth of berries in it!

And his hair and beard aren't greasy and limp --- the way they would be after a few days in the wild. No --- he's well-coiffed and blow-dried.

He still has all his teeth.

And he's not skeletal from a 25 year diet of almost zero protein.

Sorry.

i want to believe sooo bad. he can be charming, funny and so convincing. so i buy into it and even want to go out and camp for an extensive time....... but then the doubts come in from people everywhere; and they ask valid questions (and the answers are not good). i just didn't want to dislike the guy. that would make him the kind of corporate money grubber that he rails against. i'm so confused. but then, why would he have to lie? he was honest about going into town when he wanted town stuff -- he was up front about getting and eating the cheeseburger w/ shake and fries. i don't know what to make of him. i love the show and watch it all the time.

No the proof is on youtube remember Jackie Chandler or "Moon Hair" has a youtube channel where she is actually up close filming mick and norm and you can't see that footage on tv

No siree..Its definitely scripted.The episode where he found his grandfathers map showing 14 stashes located in the forest was proof that the show is scripted.Two of the stashes supposedly decades old contained items which were stuffed in what looked to be leather bags.Those bags looked nearly new even though they were supposed to have been exposed to years of wetness,bugs,rodents etc..
