Are these batteries enough to power a circut for 15mins?

8 AA batteries each rated as 1.5V and 2000mAh are connected in series.

iii) Can these batteries provide enough power to drive a circuit that requires a constant 8 amps current supply for 15 minutes?

Would anyone be able to explain what the answer is and how they got it. Thanks!

Update:

So you do 2amps x 1.4 which would be 30mins?

You won't be able to draw 8A from AA batteries. Best you can manage is about 2A. In theory 2000mAh equates to 8A for 15 minutes (2A for 1 hour, 4A for 30 minutes, 8A for 15 minutes) but that neglects other battery parameters.

Wired in parallel, you could get 8A for 15 minutes as each battery would be supplying 1A. But that is at just 1.5V instead of 12V when wired on series.

Amania has given correct answer. First you have to mention at what voltage the circuit operates. If it is operating at 12 volts there are many 12 volt batteries available that has high current capacity.

8 amps for 1/4 hour is 2 amp hours (amps x time) or 2000 mA-hours

    So, yes, theoretically.
