If Bruno Mars of Maroon 5 wrote a song about stalking, could it be a hit?

Let's say one of these musicians wrote a "love" song about pursuing a girl they were in love with. But it was super stalkery...i.e. Watching through windows and following and creepy texts etc. could it still become a top song?

    Bruno Mars isn't from Maroon 5...what the heck are you talking about? Do you mean the guy adam something? He writes awesome songs and so yeah, he would make it a top hit easily...
