Are there any theists here that will admit that creationism is not scientific?

A common objection to inserting creationism into science classes is that it has nothing to do with science, much like teaching British literature in math class.

When people in support of putting creationism into science classes hear this objection, do they disagree? Or do they agree and just not care?

Update:

@Mariel, no worries, I avoid generalizations like that. I realize theists are a very broad group of people just as atheists are. Ty for your input.

mmmmm yes, in fact the overwhelming majority of Christians and even Orthodox Jews would not allow "creationism" aka "biblical literalism" to be taught in our science classrooms.

Catholic schools in fact, teach evolution as the biological science it is. All the mainstream denominations accept evolution.

Please don't generalize "all theists" and equate them to the terribly ignorant and mislead fundamentalists and fringe cults, found mostly in America's southern rural communities. World wide, this is not even an issue.

    EDIT: -- ty :)

I for one, have been spending my retirement years at School Board meetings when and where this subject comes up, and doing my level best to prevent these fringe groups from hijacking our science classrooms.

I will whole-heartedly agree that mainstream Christian denominations, and all rational, sane people, need to do more to keep these fringe people from gaining more political power, and stop them from influencing public education in the U.S. and elsewhere --- if indeed it is a problem anywhere else.

I like your analogy of Literature in a Math class. ONLY when the literature is relevant to a math question. Like how many Montagues died in Romeo and Juliet?

Creationism as taught and promoted by the YEC is a religious belief. It stands apart from science by making really weird claims that Dinos and Humans lived together, or God made the fossils to "test" their faith.

Personally, the only class that Creationism should be in is in Debating, since then the conflict can be addressed by various viewpoints.

By the way, I do believe in Creation, but not the "Creationism" that has been popular presented by the fundamentalists.

There was nothing that was made that wasn't made by God. Creationism is science! God answers his childrens questions all the time. He is teaching me about DNA. God is teaching me about topoisomerases and ASD, because we have a slight autism in one side of my family and I intend to solve it with education and a miracle from God. God teaches through education, it makes us more intelligent in the long run, plus we get healed. So put your boring lame *** repetitive question where the sun don't shine!!!!

It is as much a science as evolution. Evolution is clearly a modern myth based on its origin and proof. Just because it is a myth pushed by scientists does not change the facts.

It doesn't need ti be! Stop trying to contrast Creationism....it'd be far easier for you to just decide yourself...do you believe in God and His word?yes or not?all you have to do is choose..it's as simple as that.

nope. you cant prove 100% that either are true or not. but looking at the evidence we do have, i see creation a much more reasonable answer to life.

Science is simple observation. Anyone can observe that kind comes from kind.

Creationism is testable like all sciences eg:

"Does the bible say the Earth was created by God?"

    *Looks in bible.*

    "Yes it does."
