If I live in WA state as a student & buy a vehicle here but am legally a PA resident what's the sales tax?
I'm a student in WA state and will be for another 2 and a half years and am considering buying a motorcycle from a private party here. My state of legal residence however is PA and have a PA driver's license and endorsement.
Will I have to pay WA state & local tax or PA state & local tax?
Also, will the vehicle have to be registered in WA?
Could I give it a PA license plate if I wanted?
I doubt it, but are there any other little known facts that I should take into consideration that might come up as a complication of this situation that I may not be aware of?

Whatever state you title it in will collect the sales tax. PA has the disadvantage of state inspections, which you won't get if the bike isn't there. They may require seeing the vehicle to issue a title. I moved to PA three years ago from WA and they sent someone outside to check the VIN on my car to get a tag. Then we moved back to Washington. If they check inspection records, and I don't know if they do, they could prevent you from renewing your plate or fining you, which you would have to pay. Probably better with a WA plate and no inspection required.
