How do you know if your laptop is at the point of no return?
Ok so I have had my Gateway V53 for 5 years now and I have never had any problems with it. But a few days ago, I tired turning it on and only the power button and one light on the key board would light up but the screen didn't turn on. So doing a little research online I can to a conclusion that maybe the screen needed to be replaced. So I ordered a new screen over amazon, and just kept the laptop powered down and put it away. But today I went to see if it would maybe do something now since it has been off for a few days., but now only the power button and fan turns on nothing else. Is it fixable or is it time for me to start looking for a replacement?

I think at this time you need a person knowledgeable in computer repair to take a look at your laptop to determine what all could be wrong with it. You've already purchased a new screen that apparently may not have been the problem, so there's no sense spending more money on a computer that may or may not be worth repairing. If you have a friend who's a computer "geek" and has some experience with computers and the necessary tools to repair them, you may want them to take a look at your computer for you. Either that, or if you feel it's time to buy into the newest technology, you can begin searching for a newer or a new laptop. Just be aware that there are some very simple things that could be wrong with your computer that won't allow it to boot up. Something as simple as a RAM stick that became dislodged, the thermal paste on the CPU is bad and the computer won't start because of excessive heat, the BIOS could have problems, or you could have picked up a virus on your hard drive. These are things a computer "techie" can take a look at and hopefully help you out with a decision.
