Where can I find a group or multiple homeless people?
I'm off today, and I live in Baltimore. Usually, if I have any food that is still good that I don't want to go bad and I know that I won't have time to eat it, I will give it away on my way to work to any homeless people that I pass in my commute. Sometimes I order pizza, and since I don't like second day pizza, any leftover - I will give it to someone on the way to the work the next morning. So, that's all nice, but I want to do more on my own. I could go join an organization, but I want to do some stuff on my own.
I'm thinking of putting together my own homeless packs and homeless meals. If I made 30 or 40 lunch meals today - where do I go to find a group of homeless folks? I am sure that I can find a few, but how do I find multiple?
I need ideas on how to find people who need it most. I want to make a difference on my own so that I don't have to wait for an organization to do something.
So... where can I find a group or multiple homeless people?

Most missions, and churches have a food pantry you can donate items too, and check your local Salvation Army, The Red Cross, or United Way. You may be able to join, or start a support group of your own that is liable, because they have already established themselves as a safe haven. Unfortunately, you won't be able to provide that, unless you apply for it, under the non profit status, within your local/state. Which means that if someone were to be admitted for any condition that had to do with the food you gave them, you will be held responsible for the expense, and treatment, etc. Unfortunate, it is all around. But, it is a fact that food can cause problems, when there were none, even unintentionally. The local, or state won't pick up the tab, if you are not listed. It's free to apply, I think, or for the most part, it will cost you time. In the meantime. Go to one of the already established organizations, and let them know what you have available. Many places give their food in abundance, already prepared, so that people have a chance to use this, and it doesn't go to waste. I think being a sponsor to provide for certain needy families, and get to know them is fine, if they are acceptable to the idea. Some prefer their own privacy with it, however they still appreciate the help. Good luck!

call your church and ask where the battered women's shelter is or the homeless shelter is in your town. Individuals can donate items any day. I am not sure if you have health codes concerning donations, you might have to ask about that. Make a list of everything you use from the time you get up in the morning until the time you go to bed at night.....and that is what a battered women's shelter needs. They need clothes too and there are kids in a battered women's shelter so toys are needed not just at Christmas time, but all year. Bloom where you are planted
