Can I download a PS3 game update from a PC and then transfer to PS3?

Question

I have a limited data plan for my internet at my house and i can't take the PS3 anywhere. So I need to download the NFS Most Wanted (2012) 1.3 patch update (2GB) from a PC then transfer it to my PS3 vita USB Drive. Is this possible? If so, where can I get the trusted download from?

P.S. I am talking about the GAME UPDATE!!!! I already have the latest System update.

No, it MUST be done directly through the PS3.  There is no way to download a game update on PC and transfer to PS3.

NOTE: Even with the Proxy download method, it's still downloading DIRECTLY to the PS3, even if it is from the PC.  You can't copy it to a USB device as the PS3 won't recognize it from the USB device.  So you would still need to download it to the PS3, no matter what method you use.

No you can't. I don't see what advantage it would give you anyway, as the PS3 and PC are sharing the same mobile internet connection. Can't you get a land line internet connection? Mobile internet is meant to be for keeping up with e-mail, etc. on the move - it's not cut out for big downloads (as you've found) or online gaming.

yes, you can, but you need to use a proxy, and it's a bit complicated.  But here's a how-to guide.

Basically what you do is run a program on your network, link it to the ps3, the ps3 initates the download of the patch it needs, then the program on your PC will begin to download it.  Once you get it, your ps3 connects to that proxy and you can download it directly from your PC over the home network.
