1997 Toyota Camry LE?

Im looking at buying a 1997 Toyta Camry LE 4 cyl. It has 170,000 miles. It just had the timing belt and water pump changed. It has great tires and no body damage/rust. Also its an American Edition if that makes a difference. Very clean on the inside as well. Im afraid the miles are high.. What do you think? Im a high school student.

future routine maint on the 4 cyl at 170K. you're good. 170 aint nothing to these. 250+ is typical. another 5+ years of good mpg use out of this.

emissions test results, needed or not in your area, passing with room to spare speaks volumes in regards to engine condition and management.

timing belt/water pump change is a plus.

but i'd have the oil/filter, air filter, changed. pcv valve checked/cleaned. give her a chassis lube job. prolly be trouble free for quite sometime.

always a good idea on new/used vehicles to assume no periodic maint was done. start from scratch. that way *you* know where it stands. as most don't have all maint reciepts/records.

If it didn't have regular maintenance, the engine will be loaded with sludge. Get a mechanic to check for evidence of neglect.

Sold my wife's '01 Camry with 130K on the clock for 5500. bucks
