trying to get my son to take the bottle?
I have asked this question before but did not get a lot of answers and none of them helped at all.
I am breastfeeding and intend to do so until he is 2 years old.
But I am about to start painting again and I due to the lead in the paint my youngest can't be with me, and I can't possibly paint with that little rascal around! So while my 3 year old is at daycare, my youngest will be staying with his grandmother during the morning. He is 10 months old and takes a morning nap. But he falls asleep while he breastfeeds. And he just refuses to take the bottle, both pumped breastmilk and formula. He has no problem drinking juice, tea or water from bottles and does so happily on his own, without me needing to force or encourage him at all. But the moment he realizes that there is milk in the bottle he puts it down and if you bring it towards his mouth he throws one hell of a tantrum.
Any tips you could offer?
Will choose best answer.
I use oil paint and it contains lead, I've searched high and low for lead free paint. The brand I am using now is lower than any I have found I have asked my GP and he has assured me that the levels are so low that it won't affect my son or my breast milk. But it still makes me nervous so I'd rather he not be there and take a shower before I pick him up.
And a sippy cup doesn't work either. We've tried.

lol i had three of those!
i can tell you that the only way is to feed him from the spoon. mine got avocado, banana, carotts, rice...slowly introduced at abt 10 months and ahead. in the bottle with the tiniest hole i could get was water first. after eating they are thirsty and they do somehow accept the water but not the milk from the bottle. it comes out easily and they dont suck at first. but they are greedy little fellas and then they do suck.
if you seriously want to breastfeed until he is 2 (i did) i would not advice you to give him your milk or some baby formula in a bottle because you will lose that precious feeding time with him. they do understand that bottled stuff is easy to get and sweet...you sound like a good mom, maybe just give him a little more time with you and only go away for little time where you can be replaced with fruits and water :)

I agree with your 1st answerer, I would be looking for some lead free paint.
At 10 months, if he is just away from you for the morning, he can probably go w/o milk, some finger foods and water will keep him satisfied. He'll just want to nurse more when he's with you. At nap time, he and grandma can find their own routine. I would also suggest introducing a cup and using that to give him water.

Try introducing him to a cup. He's plenty old enough.
Why can't you get lead free paint? You know if you get lead in your system it will pass through your breastmilk and it could also stick on your clothes, skin and hair without you noticing. Lead is much more harmful to a growing child than to an adult. The same amount that could severely disable your child might not do anything at all to you.

Are you talking artist paint?
As for just the morning, your lil one will be fine without milk for a couple of hours while you are away. As for a zippy cup, some kids do better with a regular cup.

Maybe you can mash some bananas in your BM and introduce him as fruit milk. Or mix a little spoonful of molasses it will chance the color of milk. Give him a new concept since he is fine with drinking other stuff from a bottle.
