How can I meditate if I suffer from tinnitus?

Every form of (Eastern) Yoga that I learn about requires you to, at some point, sit in complete silence for extended periods of time. All well & good. However, I have Tinnitus, which is ringing in my ears. More like a pack of crickets. Anyway, how can I solve this dilemma?

I've been meditating since 1984 with Tinnitus, no problem. Noise is part of daily experience, you can't avoid it - just like wind blowing, birds chirping, cars passing by. You simply accept the noise as part of your environment. There is no such thing as complete silence. What they are suggesting is more about not watching tv, or with a radio on, or superfluous noise in your surroundings, that's the ideal but it's hard to attain for some of us. You just make yourself as quiet as you can. But truth is, you can meditate on a bus full of people if you need to, just turn the direction of your thoughts to silence and your mind will follow.
