jury duty questions/help?
I am not a registered voter. I am a 20 year old male. I got a summons for jury duty...Why? I thought you had to be a registered voter to receive jury duty? I don't plan on going, as I never agreed to it, anyone else go through this before?
Well if he/she does, im going to sue, as i'm not a registered voter, so i never agreed to serve jury duty.
According to california law, if i am not a registered voter, i should not even be on a list for jury duty. No i also don't have my license, im a poor college student, so books/fees come first.

If you have a driver's license you may be on the list.
FYI - Your "agreement" to be on a list for jury duty is not required.

In a lot of states, you don't even need to be a registered voter to be called up for jury duty. All you need is a driver's license.

You don't have to be a registered voter, do you have a drivers license? That's where they got your name.
No one agrees in any formal way to be a responsible citizen, you better plan on contacting them and asking them for a delay or they will issue a warrant.
You can't sue on this one, you won't even find a lawyer to take your case, because you don't have one.
I hope no one else has gone through this before, because its fairly simple you are a citizen, you are of age, and you have a responsibility to serve. Most people, even young ones understand this.
You've mentioned something about how you never agreed to it, so once again I'll restate, being called for jury duty is not something you have to agree to.

When you turned 18 you had to register for the draft. I know there is no longer a draft in this country.
You registered with the Federal Government which sends that information to the state where you live.
