There is no short cut in this case because upgrading to Windows 8.1 Pro does not generate a new recovery file. If the system crashes in future , you can use the recovery disk and restore the system back to factory condition and then try upgrading to pro again.

My suggestion: Use a clone software to clone C: drive now and put it in a safe place. I normally use Aomei Backupper. If you wish, please try the following free programs:

i am a technician. the keys online you can search are not accepted by ms. they may not work after 3 months.

Someone recommended me this site oggus.com, and, truly speaking, the price attracted me at the first sight, but i am quite suspicious to the site.

then i asked some professional questions to their service team. i was satisfied with their reply.

i dicided to buy one. after careful test, the key they provided did work and support all the updates. it's trustable.

how can I find out if it's legit? can someone recommend a place with similar prices that you can vouch for?

Losing data from hard drive (like photo, videos, etc...) is very common today. You can get rid of such problems by using Wondershare Data Recovery to get back all deleted files from hard drives like SCSI, SATA, IDE, etc. This is the link where you can download it for free http://bitly.com/1qaJto1
