Which is superior: Connection via HDMI or DisplayPort?

About to purchase a new monitor and want to know which connection I should use from my GPU to my monitor

    Display port is supposed to be better. HDMI was made for HDTV and a max resolution of 1900x1080. If you new monitor has much higher resolution that an HD TV, then you should use Display port.
