Synchronous and Asynchronous Inputs flip flops?

Trying to understand the difference between the 2.

Reading up online I believe one is affected by clock edge, whilst the other changes input regardless of clock pulse?

Could anyone explain what one is effected by clock and if I'm on the right lines

You basically have the right idea. Synchronous flip flops are the ones that change state on a clock pulse. They are used to make synchronous counters, shift registers and other things where you want all the outputs to change at the same time.

    Two inputs:

    Clock

    Signal

    syncronous....inPhase with the clock pulse

Asychronous 180 out of phase with clock pulse.

    flip flop...multivibrator square wave
