what's best for algae?

I'm starting to get algae in my tank(mostly brown) and am trying to find something to help get rid of it. I tried a scraper but the one I got is curved apparently and I don't like that it makes the algae float all around the tank. So now I'm wondering whether I should get a moss ball or something of the sort, or a snail or otocinclus. anyone have any opinions? It's a 13 gallon(wide and tall) with 5 neons, a betta and an amano shrimp. Do moss balls actually work?

I would get a mystery snail. They take care of the algae, and they are sold at the adult size. I would advise that you not get a Plecostamus (sucker fish thingys.) Because they can grow to be 23" long. (About 2 feet)

You can get a algae eater or a snail to eat it off the tank. They sell them at petco for a cheap price

algae comes in many colors (color indicates the type)

algae requires nitrates and (or) light to grow by limiting one you can reduce the growth

limit your lighting (sunlight, room light and tank light) to no more than 8 hours per day with the use of a timer

limit the nitrates by doing a weekly water change of 25%

the use of snails or algae eaters can also help but not all snails or algae eaters will feed on brown algae

Get 2 mollies @ petco or pleco and snails. Scrapers don't really help
