Serious question for non-trinitarian Christians...?

Fristly, let me say that I am not a Christian. I do not consider the Bible to be the word of any god...And in fact, if such a god, as described in the Bible, did exist...I would refuse, on pain of death and oblivion or eternal torture, to ever spend one second of my existence worshiping such an evil creature...but I digress...

I laugh when I hear Jehovah Witnesses or Mormon...or any other non-trinitarians argue that they cannot get their mind around the absurd idea of the trinity...They simply cannot understand how god can be three distinct beings and one being at the same time....

Yet these same people believe that Jesus Christ was crucified (on a stake NOT A CROSS! for JW's)...died, and three days later rose from the dead...then descended into Heaven.

JW's take the Bible completely literally and believe every single miracle mentioned within is an actual, real, historical event: The serpent tempting Eve, The 10 plagues, the parting of the Red Sea, Noah and the ark surviving a global flood, with pairs of all the animal on earth aboard, and every other preposterous thing written in it they can comprehend...but the Trinity well that is just going too far

As for Mormons, they believe that the Native Americans are really Jews, that some angel named Moroni led Joseph Smith to find ancient golden plates....That Joe actually came face to face with God the father and God the son...and lived to tell the tale...But again...the Trinity...NO WAY!!

Now for my question...Why is the Trinity so impossible to believe...but all these other implausible events are perfectly understandable and acceptable to you?

Update:

Jehovah's* Witnesses

Update 2:

To Hola como estas -- Have you ever read a novel? Of course you can attribute "evil" or any adjective to fictional characters...I think of Santa Claus as a jolly old elf...though I know he doesn't exist. I think of Super Man as brave and good...

Your lack of logic and critical thinking skill is alarming and sad.

the trinity is not accepted (for me) because when researched it was clearly a construction of the ecumenical councils under Constantine 324 years after Christ...and greatly influenced by political ideas and greek philosophies (the thoughts of plato on 'substance' are obvious). these men were not chosen by God to accomplish this - but by men.

now - IF one is going to accept the biblical story and Christ as the Divine Son of God (and as LDS I do) then this would definitely fit the definition of "men" changing the words of God. and as the nature of God is a thing one would want to "get right" it therefore seems within the realm of logic to disregard the creeds (including the doctrine of trinity) as binding on one following Christ (Christian).

    From a Mormon perspective:

All of the actual miracles of the bible can be explained if enough science is known. There are some things in the bible that are symbolic but miracles such as splitting the Red Sea was the real deal with lots of witnesses. That is why it is such a big deal.

On the other hand, the nature of God is an extremely important concept. There are lots of Trinitarian and non Trinitarian Christians in many denominations. I used to be a non-Trinitarian protestant. The difference between a Trinitarian and non-Trinitarian is like night and day. The one is a very strange and unknown species whereas the other is a real person. The question is, how much trust can a person place in a being who is nothing like us, fills the universe, and condemns the vast majority of people to eternal torture simply because they did not have a passing thought about Jesus VERSES, a God who is a real person like us and is the actual Father of our spirits and there is great purpose to earth life

The Trinity is the only way Christians can maintain the myth of monotheism. If they only have one god, they cannot have the son of that god as well because the son of a god has to be at least a demigod. That means that without the Trinity they have one and a half gods (ignoring the Holy Spirit) and one and a half gods is not monotheism. If Christ is not the son of god that seems to defeat the entire premise on which Christianity is based.

Another entity that appears from time to time is the Holy Spirit which makes up the third part of the Trinity. Once you have a god in two parts, it might as well be three. In fact it should be four as Satan ticks every box in any definition of a god. Satan should be god's dark side and there would therefore be four parts.

It is either a god with four complete entities within it or four gods - which is a no-no for monotheists.

Added: "The bible teaches that there is one God"

It teaches nothing of the sort. More than two dozen different gods are mentioned in the Bible. The god of Moses just claims to be the big boss god.

  • I see the Trinity as a 3 in 1 deal. All 3 are connected and make 1, but at the same time are 3. This is a terrible metaphor, but like those pocket knives that have a bunch of things in them. Screwdriver, scissors, knife, etc. All separate things, but they're connected and make the pocket knife. Does that make sense? I don't know why, but that has always helped me understand it.

your question was ....Why is the Trinity so impossible to believe.

They believe God, Jesus, and the holy spite are the same person because.

John 10:30....I and my father are one

They believe this to be a literal statement. And yet I'm a husband with a wife and two children....are we not ONE....and yet still singular? How about a football team.....are they not one, but yet still singular?

They say you must believe in the trinity in order to be Christian, and believe their is only one GOD.

John 16:5...But now I must go away to HIM that sent me.

John 16:7...for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send HIM unto you.

Now we read that this is Jesus saying he is going to God that sent him, and when he gets their , he will send HIM the Comforter ( Holy spirit ).....3 very distinct personages ....Right!......Not according to them.

Psalm 82:1....GOD standeth in the congregation of the mighty, he judgeth among the GODS.

Psalm 82:6....I have said Ye are GODS, and all of you are children of the most high

And still according to them their is only one God.....We Know their is one most high God and none above him.......But were not Christians because we don't believe in what they believe....Weird.

    I'm not a non-Trinitarian but I believe I can answer your question.

First, let me say that Trinitarian Christians do not consider JW's or Mormons to be "Christians." So as far as I am concerned there are no non-trinitarian Christians.

In regard to your question. Both JW's and Mormons believe in God the Father. Both are adoptionists in their Christology. This means that they more or less believe that Jesus was a human who during his life became God or like God (God's son). The doctrine of the trinity states that God is in three forms (Father, Son, Spirit). This is an immutable quality of God. So to be an adoptionist directly contradicts the doctrine of the trinity, because Jesus hasn't always been God. Thus the "three in 1" falls apart immediately. Hence, no trinity.

How do you attribute the characteristic of "evil" to a person that you don't believe exists? What you must be saying is that the life of random chance and accident is horrible. It's like your anger at God is so obvious.

As to your question, I don't worry about JW and Mormons. They are cults, they know they're cults, true Christians know they're cults, so there's really nothing to be done for them

The bible teaches that there is one God, and so those who can read reject the idea of God being three persons. Quite easy to understand.
