If you were to create a more updated version of Othello - the movie. Who would be your Actors?

Ok, I would definitely say Tom Hiddleston as he is a HUGE Shakespeare guy, and he would be utterly perfect in Othello. I think DiCaprio would also be cool. I must agree that Scarlet Johansson would be wonderful as Desdemona :) Also (just to throw this out), Benedict Cumberbatch. I'm not really thinking of any specific character here that he would play, so long as I can see him (and Tom) in a movie (especially if they were in scenes together).

Othello, I’d keep the same as the Donmar and go with Chewitel Ejiofor

Iago, I’d have to go with Benedict Cumberbatch after seeing him in Star Trek

Desdemona, most likely Keira Knightly. It just seems to suit her.

Cassio, once again I’d have to keep the 2008 genius Donmar casting of Tom Hiddleston

Emilia, Maggie Gyllenhaal.

All trained at the best drama schools (apart from Keira who turned down LAMDA!!) in the world and love Shakespeare, probably some of the best in the world. And they are all passionate about it, therefore it would be twice as good.

I love DiCaprio as much as the next guy but Iago is too deep for him, not saying he couldn’t do it. It’s just there are others that can do it better.

Say if there was a huge Hollywood blockbuster and Will Smith, Johnny Depp and Halle Berry were in it. It’d be good. But a true British most likely BBC produced film would just be PERFECT!

A younger Morgan Freeman as Othello! And Tom Hiddelston as Iago. That would be an interesting movie!
