How can I read more and not be d?

I'm 23 and my problem is I enjoy playing games in my free time. Only 2-3 hours a day. But I would rather play my favourite games in the safety of my home than go out all the time.

I know I'm not gaining anything from doing it besides being entertained so I need some advise curbing the habit and replacing it with more productive hobby such as reading.

Reading was something I used to do a lot but gaming took over. Now I wanna read more but I just don't have the will power to refrain from gaming and switch to reading just like that (tried for a few years now!) I've got tons of interesting books and I just feel terrible that I don't read them..

Thanks for any advise!

Go camping. Go somewhere without power. Go to a library. Find a place where you cannot play your games and you won't have the opportunity to do anything but read the books you bring with you.

Set up a dedicated reading time. For example, every night, for half an hour before bed time or on your lunch break at work. Once you get into the habit, it becomes easier. You could also try putting away your gaming systems for the weekend (have a friend take the power cords if it's that big an issue), and just sit and read. There are also online book clubs you can join.

Also, if you're interested in gaming, but worried that you won't be interested in reading, there are a ton of gaming related books:

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson (older book, but still oddly relevant)

    Reamde by Neal Stephenson

This Is Not a Game by Walter Jon Williams

    Good luck!
