It is a real nut. In fact, I have a Macadamia Nut tree! There are four types of Macadamia trees native to Australia by the way. The trees grow naturally in north eastern New South Wales and central and south eastern Queensland. Macadamia nut is often used in sweets like cookies.

No it is a real nut from the Macadamia Tree

If you can eat a macadamia, then eat white chocolate and think they taste the same, you have a problem with your sense of taste. They taste nothing alike, nor is the texture when chewed at all similar.
Final argument-jars of macadamias say "macadamia nuts" in the ingredients.

It's a real nut, and it's white. It's often found in white chocolate, or some times chocolate chip cookies.
