Likelihood of being pregnant 5 hours before period.?

I do understand it is POSSIBLE to become pregnant anytime you have unprotected sex! I am asking the likelihood. My husband and I had sex around four in the morning of my expected period. I had been cramping the day before and knew my period was coming very soon. Sure enough around 12 that afternoon I got it. It is just like my other periods, I am cramping just the same and it is not light. What is the likelihood of me becoming pregnant? I also smoke cigarettes and I know that can sometimes mess with your fertility.

Assuming that the bleeding is menstruation - almost impossible.

Ovulation occurs two weeks prior to menstruation and even if multiple eggs are produced over that 24 hours period at most there will only be a viable egg present for 48 hours max - by the time you menstruate that egg is long dead. It is biologically impossible to get pregnant during menstruation, less so just before menstruation.

The risk comes from your current cycle, if your cycle is very short it is possible to be fertile during menstruation - meaning that there is fertile quality cervical mucus present during menstruation, which can keep sperm alive for up to a week and by which time you may have ovulated - but at the start of your period it's unlikely you're fertile.

If sexually active you should be aware of how conception occurs.

Almost no chance of pregnancy beyond a few days after ovulation and before period

Relatively unlikely, but still completely possible.
