Should I wrap my tattoo up while I sleep?
I just got a tattoo a few days ago and I asked my artist if I should wrap it up while I sleep. He said he personally wraps his tattoos up at night when he gets a new one because he's a "crazy sleeper".
I don't move around a whole lot in my sleep. But I sleep like the middle figure in the picture. My tattoo is on the inside of my wrist so it would always be touching the bed and/or pillow. Should I bandage it up while I sleep to prevent crap from sticking to it? I usually only sleep for around 6 hours.

No, don't wrap. It's ok to do it on the first night, though I don't. Wrapping a tattoo prevents it from breathing and healing correctly. And it also creates a bacteria trap. Something you don't want to do to an open wound. Bacteria love to multiply in damp, warm and suffocated areas. When you go to sleep, use pillows to prop up the tattooed area so it doesn't touch anything (easier said than done sometimes). I actually find my wrists and forearms by far the easiest to keep off the bed with pillows. Just make sure your sheets are clean of fluff and debris. I change my sheets the day I get a tattoo to freshly cleaned sheets (because I'm paranoid), then again a few days after when the ink stops leaking. In between sheet changing, just use a paper lint roller on your bed before lying down to get all the bits of crap out of it. Your still going to get bits and pieces stuck to the cream, just a hell of a lot less. Just try and wash your sheets in the most chemical-free washing liquid you can find before using them when your wound is still open. Some washing liquids/powders can burn your skin, esp a fresh wound. And before bed and when you wake up, wash your tattoo with liquid, fragrance free soap, pat dry with paper towel, wait 20 minutes and apply healing cream. At this stage of healing you shouldn't wake up with your tattoo stuck to your sheets or clothes. But if you do, do not pull it off. Wet the material, add some of your liquid soap and gently unbind your skin from it. But yeah, after that long answer, point is...DONT wrap it.
