I need help with my kitchen disposal?
I broke a glass 2 nights ago and I thought I had picked up all of the broken pieces. I haven't run the disposal since then. Now I turn it on and it ran for a couple seconds then turned off. Now there isn't any noise at all. How can I fix this w/o calling a plumber? Thank you!

Buttercup, you mean it's not running at all? firstly this is what I have to do when my wife accidently drops bones in and the stupid thing used to jam. Ours came with this Alan key, that you inserted in the base and manually turned the thing to release the blade. Once it turns, turn the water on to that sink, and hit the reset button, it is usually on the base of it towards the back.
Hit the reset button and let it run with the water flowing. For god sake girl, don't put your hand down there is it's not running.
When the wife went overseas the last time, I had a restaurant grade disposal installed, that was two years ago, and she still doesn't know. Got fed up of getting on my back under the damn sink.

turn the disposal off. reach in the opening with a broom handle or other stout stick and try and make the disposal blade turn. if the blade turns around, turn the disposal on. if it still doesn't work, there is a reset button
under the bottom of the disposal. push that in, the disposal should work. i it still does not work, go to your electric panel and see if any of the circuit breakers are tripped. if any are tripped, flip the switch all the way off, then back on. if none of these things work, you need a plumber or an electrician.

Look for a reset button on the unit under the sink. Push it and try and run it again. Also check your circuit breaker to see if it was tripped. If you can get power, turn the unit on for just a second and then off again. Do it several times to break up the glass and flush it out. If that doesn't work, then you may need a plumber.
