So, do you think you can play guitar?

Well, everyone is entitled to an opinion and we can agree that i is OK to disagree. That said, if you talk to most well respected guitar players of all genres, you will get a unison opinion regarding Tommy Emmanuel and that is a huge round of respect and admiration.

You may like or dislike what he does, but he is an amazing player - reaching far beyond the Chet Atkins style of guitar. The guy is also an Australian with a solid doze of humor.

A great, great showman and musician - respected by the whole guitar playing community (apart from Tim here who obviously knows his stuff better than the guitar giants out there).

You have obviously never listened to classical guitar music. In classical guitar music, you are the "bassist", the soloist, and the percussionist if you are playing a really cool piece .

If he were in tune as much as he is full of himself then it would be music. The real pros never have to spend five minutes telling you they are pros. He's doing a few Chet Atkins riffs that every advanced year student can play blind folded. I'm a professional mandolinist and even I can do that with a guitar. I've come to respect everything you have to say about music in general but sorry, you're impressed by the wrong stuff in this case.

Personally I've never been of the mindset that you have to be a guitar god to consider yourself a real musician. To me music is about expression and enjoyment rather than being some kind of pissing contest.

Luckily I never did think I was any good as a player! Tommy is one of the greatest players, okay, not as good as Tim, but great none the less!
