Replacing E.C.U. Elantra?

In the past if I changed the main computer in my car, I just unhooked the battery, held down the brake pedal,(to completely discharge system), unplugged the old one ,popped it out ,then replugged the cables into the new one, bolted it down, rehooked the battery , then drove away. Can I do that in a 2001 Elantra, or do I have to take it to a dealership, and have the new E.C.U. specially programmed? Did the Model 'T' Ford, utilize all this crap? Lol!

I believe the ecm for your elantra is basically plug and play.

No programming yet on those model/year.

Make sure you use the correct ecm that is for your car with auto trans, or manual trans.

Makes a difference as an auto trans car ecm will not work on a manual trans car.

    Good luck.
