Eric Fleming pre-accident photo? Biography?

Question

Is there one? Also, do you think everything about his childhood is true, or did he or the studio just make some of it up? Where can I find this information? I can't find an actual biography of him, just what is on the internet.

He was what we used to call ruggedly good-looking, with a deep, rich voice. I had no idea about his accident and that his face had been repaired. Good info from previous answers. I watch Rawhide now on Saturdays on ME-TV. The stories are all basically the same, they're riding the same cattle trail and always searching for water, and there's a good vs. evil tale in there somewhere, but what I mostly like is the theme song. Best Western theme ever, sung by Frankie Laine.

The story about his running away from his abusive father and hopping a freight does not seem implausible. Nor the kind of glamorous nonsense that studio publicity departments are wont to invent.
