Question for Catholics-- re: the Saint Michael the Archangel prayer?

Is this prayer to Michael something you do often ?

Saint Michael the Archangel,

defend us in battle.

Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.

May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;

and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -

by the Divine Power of God -

cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits,

who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen.

    Thou shall have no other gods! Exodus 20:2-3, Exodus 23:13, Exodus 23:24, Exodus 23:32, Exodus 34:14.

    Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. (Exodus 20:4-6)

    So it matters not whether Mary and the Saints are worshipped as gods, idols, intermediaries or anything else it still goes against God's direct orders!

    Of course we do since prayer is a request from someone. When we pray to Saint Michael we are asking him to pray for us. Its not worshipping Saint Michael but a request for Saint michael to pray for us and to protect us from Satan's snares because God gave him the strength to do this.

    When The battle between God and Lucifer's forces began Lucifer refused to bow to God, but Michael in his humility and love for God bowed to him and showed great humilty and Michael who was teh second most powerful angel behind lucifer was given the strength to caste lucifer out of heaven.

    I pray it after every rosary I say, though it is not part of the rosary prayer. Publicly, it is (or was) said after every Low Mass (the Extraordinary Form). But since the E.F. (or the Latin Mass) has been largely replaced by the Novus Ordo Mass (modern Mass) since the Vatican 2 Council it's public recital has been greatly diminished. It was never recited after any of the modern Masses I have ever attended.

    At the end of every Low Mass. I even see some novus ordo places saying it as they try to reconnect with tradition.

    I was a catholic and an alter boy ..I have never once heard that prayer.

    Cathilics revere only god, Jesus the holy spirit and Mary in prayer.
