Pamela's answer is correct. High school athletes must accept an insurance policy to be eligible to play sports. The policy will cover players, if/when they do get injured.

  • Players must have some sort of medical insurance coverage in order to play. Plus, they sign a waiver saying the school is not liable for injuries.

You have to have insurance coverage to play sports and you must sign a waiver stating the high school is not responsible for any injuries... Good luck.....

In high school, when I played a thousand years ago, we were offered a insurance policy very cheap. No one could even practice without this policy in force. This went for all sports including cheer leading. I had to use this policy several times in high school. I was always hurt playing football.

Was injured in high school football and knows the answer first hand.

    The family.

Most people do not pay attention to the waiver your parents sign in order for you to have permission to play.

It waives the schools financial responsibility.

the player and the family,if you play the sport you should have signed a paper stating you understand that you could be hurt.
