One might believe that Democrats and other liberals can never be rich. I think it's a mistake to mix too much politics into the Bible. It only shows me how little some people know about what the Bible is saying.
There were rich people in the Bible who were God's people and God favored their service to him. One helped Peter out. It' not about being rich, really, it's about how people have the tendency to rely on their money where they would do better to depend on God. Some people who are rich are very faithful to God.

I can't speak for American politics, but my local MP is a Tory and a Christian.
While I think his politics suck, I have no issue with his salvation.
