Can head trauma cause a person to become a psychopath?

Basically, can you hit your head real hard and subsequently wake up without a conscience?

Yes. Trauma to various parts of the brain thought to be involved in empathy and emotion, such as the anterior insular cortex, can lead to a marked lack of empathy, and therefore, psychopathic tendencies.

Yes. If you damage the right temporo-parietal junction, located just behind the right ear, you can lose your sense of right and wrong. Neuroscientists have been able to replicate this by stimulating the temporo-parietal junction with an electromagnet.

But I personally believe that anything is possible in psychology. There are never ending answers.
