What's the nicest brand of silverware?

I'm 19 and moving into my new place soon... Since I have the luxury of living at home, rent free, I can buy nicer stuff that most young adults have to settle on. I'm by no means rich, nor is my family; I just enjoy working hard for nicer things. It'll just be me in my apartment so I don't need a huge or expensive set. I won't have many friends over so I was thinking just a set of four. What's the best in your opinion on the best but reasonably priced silverware? Should I get a higher set than four?

Update:

Srsly- I'm sorry but I'm not living in a backyard barbecue, I'm living in an apartment. I've had my own car since I was 16. The first one I paid for in cash all by myself and now last year I bought a 2014 scion that I pay the insurance and payment on all by myself. Also, since you're so concerned with my uterus, I did in fact have my abortion that my lovely boyfriend and I split the costs of. You seem really jealous and obsessed with me which is flattering but at the end of the day you'll never have the drive or motivation to work for the nice things that I have.

Wow, Jessica, I'm sorry for the snippy answers you are getting here. I assume you mean stainless flatware, because real silver is kind of a pain to take care of. And there are so many choices, you really owe it to yourself to check the options out before you make a purchase (and fer crying out loud, a set of stainless flatware just does not need to break the bank). There is such a wide variety of styles from each manufacturer, you need to pick the style and brand that suits your taste. It can't hurt to check out the thrift stores first, however, because you may find something you like there for a great price, and as long as you sterilize them you'll be fine. I wouldn't get less than a set of 4. Make sure you hold them; the balance and feel of the item makes a huge difference, and you can only figure that out by feel. Heavier is better, but it has to be balanced in your hand.

Mix and match set from garage sales. In a few years you will get married then children then the silverware will end up in the yard.

Go to a thrift store and search for what you like. Why go into debt just cause you can buy the good stuff. A set of four sounds good.

You really need to get your priorities straight. Screw buying new silverware. Get a box of plastic spoons/forks/knifes and save your money for a car, when you actually have to pay rent, school, ... you know, IMPORTANT THINGS.

Or if you haven't/arent going to get an abortion (please do) stuff for your crotch fruit.

    gorham

i assume you mean stainless, not silver. my best stainless finds have been at the store "Tuesday morning". i am nutty about having a matching set for 12.

this is my pattern. it is mega heavy, won't bend, and has held up for 20 years, except for roommates throwing spoons in the trash. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-GORHAM-RIBBON-EDGE-FRO... notice that the really fine stainless is sold at macys or dillards one place setting at a time. http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/gorham-ribbon-e...

because stainless goes walkabout at my house, i buy one place setting every year or when i notice it's gone.

if you mean silver here are some nice ebay finds:

please note that silver/plate is not dishwasher safe.
