Ramadan: Question about Salah?

Assalamualeykum

so my question is u know how we have to keep our eyes focused on one spot (where we will do sujud)

so does our eyes stay there too when doing tashahud or do our eyes move only at that time to our finger when we're moving it in tashahud?

sorry if I wasn't clear.

    Wa Alykum salaam

During Tashahud, the whole time we remain sitting..

the sunnah is to point our index finger the whole time(and move it up/down motion)

and we are supposed to fix our eyes on the index finger until saying salam(tasleem)

It was narrated that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn al-Zubayr said: When the Messenger of Allah (saws) sat during the prayer, he would place his left foot between his thigh and calf, and tuck his right foot underneath him, and place his left hand on his left knee, and place his right hand on his right thigh, and point with his finger.

    Narrated by Muslim, 579.

It was narrated that Waa’il ibn Hajar said: I said: I will certainly watch how the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prays. So I watched him and he stood up and said takbeer (“Allahu akbar”), and raised his hands until they were level with his ears. Then he placed his right hand on his left hand, wrist and lower forearm. When he wanted to bow, he raised his hands likewise, and put his hands on his knees, and when he raised his head he raised his hands likewise. Then he prostrated and put his hands level with his ears, then he sat with his left foot tucked underneath him and put his left hand on his left thigh and knee, and he put the edge of his right elbow on his right thigh. Then he held two of his fingers and made a circle, then he raised his forefinger and moved it, making du’aa’ with it.

Narrated by al-Nasaa’i, 889; classed as saheeh by Ibn Khuzaymah, 1/354; Ibn Maajah, 5/170; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Irwa’ al-Ghaleel, 367.

I have reasons to believe that i could have my eyes not focused on one place while praying but these does not mean prying with our eyes elsewhere callously:

    1. when some sahaba asked how u knew that the prophet was reciting Quran in the prayers where we don't recite Quran loudly (like Asr and Zuhr), he said i SAW his jaws moving with his beard.

    2. In tashahud, yes, we have got to have our eyes riveted or moving along on that finger.

    3. when someone cross while we pray, we have got to show hand to restrain that person from crossing (even we can fight as per one sayings of the prophet)

    4. In one hadith on keeping something in between us while praying and the people moving about in front of us is mentioned too

Hope it helps to arrive at some concrete conclusion and thanks asking

Wa alaikum salam.Yes in salah we must focus our attention, our heart and eyes on one spot of the prayer mat during standing, rukoo and sujood. In doing tashahud we must also focus on that spot we will move our eyes after we finish it by moving down our fore finger and saying assalamu aaikum wa rahmatullah to the right side.

It really doesn't matter. Realistically, you shouldnt be conscious of the spot on the floor. If you are paying attention...you wouldn't be looking around the room.
