  • From which holy scripture is this verse found in?

Lets see how well we know our religious scriptures :)

When you march up to attack a city, make its people an offer of peace. If they accept and open their gates, all the people in it shall be subject to forced labor and shall work for you. If they refuse to make peace and they engage you in battle, lay siege to that city. When the Lord your God delivers it into your hand, put to the sword all the men in it. As for the women, the children, the livestock and everything else in the city, you may take these as plunder for yourselves. And you may use the plunder the Lord your God gives you from your enemies. This is how you are to treat all the cities that are at a distance from you and do not belong to the nations nearby.

  • Muslimah how to deal with thIs?

    Assalamualeykum

So basically I am really depressed as my mother doesn't let me go out at alla nd hang out with my friends. She knows I'm not that type of girl who will do wrong but yet she doesn't let me. When I ask her she says it's a disgrace for girls to go out with their freinds and that girls need a mahram to go out. But when I go to school she has no problem at all. I even have to leave the house like really early in the morning and it doesnt bug her.... It's like I can never have fun.

What should I do? Is it true we need a mahram?

  • ramadan are we allowed to share prayer room with other faiths?

    Assalamualeykum

So basically at school there is a prayer room and obviously mostly Muslims use it

But a couple times a person from a different faith would pray in it.

I dont pray when they pray but can I pray later cuz there isn't any religious symbols inthe room. Its just a plain room where ppl pray.

So as Muslims can we still pray in that room?

  • Ramadan: what are we commanded to do when we go out in Allah's way?

    Assalamualeykum

O you who have believed, when you encounter a company [from the enemy forces], stand firm and remember Allah much that you may be successful. And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute and [thus] lose courage and [then] your strength would depart; and be patient. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.

If we followed these rules do u think we would have been in the state we are today?

  • Ramadan: Question about Salah?

    Assalamualeykum

so my question is u know how we have to keep our eyes focused on one spot (where we will do sujud)

so does our eyes stay there too when doing tashahud or do our eyes move only at that time to our finger when we're moving it in tashahud?

    sorry if I wasn't clear.

  • Ramadan: What do you do when culture goes against Islam?

    Assalamualeykum

so basically in my culture when we greet our relatives we are to give each other kisses on the cheeks whether male or female

so my prob is that whenever my uncles come over, my mom makes a big fuss if I don't embrace them and obviously its haram as they are not my mahrams...

I don't know what to do. I've tried many times and I have avoided this interaction but she places me in an awkward position.

btw I've told her i'm not going to follow that culture anymore but she gets affended

should I just ignore her and give her a look of disapproval even if it pisses her off?

what should I do? have u been in such situations before and if yes how did I solve it?

    jummah Mubarak :)

  • Ramadan: Are we allowed to settle with little good deeds?

    Assalamualeykum

O you who have believed, what is [the matter] with you that, when you are told to go forth in the cause of Allah , you adhere heavily to the earth? Are you satisfied with the life of this world rather than the Hereafter? But what is the enjoyment of worldly life compared to the Hereafter except a [very] little. (Quran:9:38)

sadly many do this. whenever good opportunity to do good comes, we procrastinate or make excuses. Is this the way of a believer?

we are to strive to do good because reward in hereafter can never be compared to this of this life.

    do you agree?

  • Ramadan: how important is it to fast 3 days of every month?

"Whoever fasts one day for the sake of Allaah, Allaah will keep his face seventy years' distance away from the Fire because of it." (Reported by Muslim, 2/808)

Fasting is something which is just for Allaah, and Allaah will give multiple rewards without measure for it. The hadeeth says: "[Allaah says:] Fasting is Mine and it is I Who give reward for it."

    (Al-Bukhaari, Fath, no. 1904)

The virtues of Ayyam al-Beed. Here are some ahadeeth:

Jareer ibn 'Abdullaah (radiAllaahu 'anhu) narrated that the Prophet (sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said:"Fasting three days of each month is fasting for a lifetime, and ayyam al-beed are the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth." (Narrated by al-Nasaa'i (2420); classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb, (1040)).

"Beed'' is the plural of "Abyad'' which means white. Three days of 13, 14 and 15 of lunar month are called "Al-Ayyam-ul-Beed'' for the reason that their nights are bright because of the moonlight. The moon begins to diminish gradually after these days.

Abu Dharr (radiAllaahu 'anhu) said: The Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said to me:"If you fast any part of the month, then fast the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth." (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, (761); al-Nasaa'i, (2424); classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb, (1038)).

Abu Hurayrah (radiAllaahu 'anhu) said: "My close friend [i.e., the Prophet (sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam)] advised me to do three things which I will never give up until I die: fasting three days each month, praying Duha, and sleeping after praying Witr." (al-Bukhaari, 1178; Muslim, 721).

The Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said:

'Shall I not tell you of something that will take away the evil of the heart? Fasting three days of each month.'

    (an-Nisaa'i 2/2386)

Inshaa'Allaah ta'ala, for this month of Rabi al-Akhar (Thani) 1435 Hijri, Ayyam al-Beed will fall on:

    13th - Yawm al-Khamis (Thursday), 02/13th 2013

    14th - Yawm al-Jummah (Friday), 02/14th 2013

    15th - Yawm as-Sabt (Saturday), 02/15th 2013

**Also remember the fasting of Monday & Thursday inshaa'Allaah**

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam)said: "Deeds are shown (to Allaah) on Mondays and Thursdays, and I like my deeds to be shown when I am fasting." [Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 747; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb, 1041.]

Inshaa`Allah let us try to make the effort to fast these three days and be consistent!

Narrated `Aisha bint Abu Bakr (radiAllahu `anhumma): The Prophet (salAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) was asked, "What deeds are loved most by Allah?" He (salAllahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said, "The most regular constant deeds even though they may be few." He added, 'Don't take upon yourselves, except the deeds which are within your ability."

  • Ramadan: How do you feel when you listen to the Quran?

    Assalamualeykum

The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely....(Quran:8:2)

When the Qur’an is recited, listen to it and be quiet so that hopefully you will gain mercy. (Quran:7: 204)

We have to listen attentively so that we hear and we obey the verses of Allah swt.

As believers, listening is an essential skill.

    Do you agree?
