Is Nick Saban an "NFL" coach ?

As Miami Dolphin's head coach Saban was 9-7 in '05, in '06 he went 6-10 as the Dolphin's head coach his 1'st losing season ever as a head coach. As Alabama's head coach since '07 Saban has gone 79-15 with 3 national titles. Saban also has a national title in '03 as LSU's head coach.

Saban's career record as a college head coach is 165-57-1 here's the kicker never the less, every 5 star recruit who played at Alabama under Saban has gone on to be a 1'st round NFL draft choice. Since 2010 Alabama has produced 13 - 1'st round NFL Draft choices ,that is more than the next 2 SEC teams combined. So a coach whose program produces so many 1'st rd. NFL draft choices consistently must know something about NFL coaching and x's & o's ?

The evidence shows Nick Saban is not a good Head Coach in the NFL. He did a very good job as a defensive coach in the NFL before he entered the college ranks as a college head coach. Saban had a lot of control over players, draft picks and play calling when he was in Miami. He had a mixed record during his time in Miami. As you mentioned he had his one and only losing season while coaching for the Dolphins. What Saban choose to do then really answers if he is a NFL Head Coach or not? Saban bailed out of the NFL and went back to college coaching. Miami was not pressuring Saban, in fact they were trying to keep Nick as their head coach. Saban when faced with true adversity bailed out instead of sticking around and working to turn things around. Saban by his actions showed he was not a NFL coach! Bottom line years later remains the same, Saban suffered loss, took a hit to his image and he left the team for greener pasture and easier job.

Saban is a great college coach (maybe even the best ever). He recruits extremely well and develops that talent. Thus his college teams win a lot of games and his players have tremendous opportunity to enter the NFL. Saban found his place in life, coaching big time college football programs. He does not worry about simply getting a winning season but how dominate the season will be. Saban is not wired to deal with the adversity of facing a possible losing season, simply put in this regard he is too weak handle it (Yes it takes a fully mature and dedicated person handle losing seasons and keep working to make the program a winner, Saban does not have this stuff). On the other side, Saban is wired so that success does not make him lazy. Thus coaching a historically great college team, with a huge stadium, and a large fan base works for Saban. He came in and restored the program to its historical glory and now is continuing to build more glory for himself and the program. Saban is not a NFL head coach, he is a college coach perfectly placed in a top college program. Thus he produces NFL talent while not having to be a NFL coach.

He could go to the NFL but he already earns more than most NFL coaches.

I'd say no, and Saban knows it which is why he jumped back to college so quickly.
