Is it illegal for a human resources boss to spy on you?

A few months back I got into a bit of a heated argument via texting with my boss. Some things I said were meant to be a joke, but my boss decided not to believe it was and has decided that seeing how he is a hacker, he now can spy on my personal cell phone and email to monitor any information I may have. Now a bit about me, I have been suffering from depression for a while, I also have a learning disability so sometimes don't get things. Also my brother's wife's family runs the business I work in so things are a bit awkward. My boss also threatened me saying that he has weapons and he does a friend of mine is friends with this guy and saw the weapons.

I was getting a bit paranoid a while back because he was spreading rumors about me and started an illegal investigation on me to see if I was doing anything illegal which made things incredibly uncomfortable. I eventually told my family about this and they confronted him and he flat out lied and denied it because I deleted the texts and had no proof and its all I said, he said nonsense now. So I'm left with my family thinking I'm crazy because of this liar and things are now uncomfortable at work. Was what my boss did illegal. If so what crimes was he committing? And how can I get the spy crap off of my cell phone and email?

Your local computer shop can tell you if you have anything on your phone or computer, and they can remove it.

If it's company property, then they probably have a right to put any software on your computer.

Quit. If this is real, you'll never be able to prove it in court. And even if you could prove it in court, that won't solve the basic problem. The basic problem is that your boss is an abusive bully and a jerk. You can't change him. So even if you went to court and forced him to stop spying on you, he'll just find a different way of being a bully.

I just have to mention this. From where I'm looking I think it's very possible that this is all in your head. I think you should at least consider that possibility.

Whether you are using your own phone or the phone your boss offered? If it is his phone, you should be careful. Whatever, try to restore the phone to get off unknow spy apps like ikeymonitor ( http://ikeymonitor.com/ ) or mobile spy ( http://www.spy-mobile-phone.com/ ) and change a new sim card. These measures may helps.
