Need advice on Woodwind Section Leader!?

I'm having a dilemma at the moment. I have already written my letter to be Woodwind Section Leader and I have a lot of musical experience but there's 1 issue. Trumpet has been my main instrument since 6th grade and I have mainly worked with brass instruments in Marching Band but I also play flute proficiently. Any advice that would help me better instruct other woodwind instruments such as clarinet or saxophone etc. or any tips you guys have to help me succeed as a woodwind section leader? Thanks a bunch!

Don't think you need to learn how to play all the instruments but here's some tips you can do and maybe need to learn from.

1.) Understand the use of reeds for clarinets and saxophones. Know that there is different sizes and what size they need to play on depending on their ability.

2.) If you're the only section leader for the ENTIRE woodwind group you should choose some of your top player in each section and have them help you also help their section with you. Don't give them to much power or work that's your job and they just assist.

3.) You can spend time alone with each different section with the equal amount of time.

4.) Teach them how to tune!

5.) If you don't know how a curtain part of the instrument works thats fine whats would be more important would be getting the right note and music.

Don't think you have to do everything for them. (For me its hard because I love my section) but having them learn simple things on their own will teach them not to be too dependent on you which is a good thing.
