Why did the Lions take Charles Rogers instead of Andre Johnson back in 03?

They could have had the best WR combo in history of the NFL. The Johnsons.

Matt Millen wouldn't know talent if it was right in front of his face. That's the main reason.....

While Johnson was a great college receiver, many thought Rogers was better. Plus, Rogers was a hometown kid, so I'm sure that factored into the Lions decision to draft him.

As for the statement you made about how they could have had Calvin and Andre Johnson, you're wrong. If the Lions had drafted Andre Johnson in '03, they would have had been more successful, meaning they would not have been in position to draft Calvin Johnson a few years later.

Have you ever seen the movie The Butterfly Effect? Its premise is that if you go back in time and change one thing, everything changes. It's a sh*tty movie but has a great premise.

It was just one of many questionable selections that Matt Millen made during his reign of terror as Detroit's GM. In addition to Rogers -- whose sorry excuse for an NFL career can be explained, in part, by injuries -- Millen drafted train wrecks like Joey Harrington, Boss Bailey, Teddy Lehman, Mike Willams, Brian Calhoun, Drew Stanton, and Gerald Alexander.

While there's no denying Millen was a terrific player as a GM he was like most of his draft picks: A huge bust.

Matt Millen. Possibly the worst GM to ever take the job. If you were to make a list of his ineptitudes, you would be amazed this man kept his job as long as he did. And even more amazed that ESPN hired him, with how little he knows about evaluating football. Well, actually, given how little most ESPN idiots know about football, that hiring makes perfect sense.

They had faith in Rogers in spite of his shenanigans. They were wrong.
