As Jesus Christ is the Messiah but the?

Jews killed him, why would they still be God's Chosen people?

Update:

Sorry Fireball, didn't the Jews pay Judas to betray him and say he needed to die? Think again, They yelled for Christ to be crucified? They are the ones that caused it as God planned it.

    Hello,

Interesting question. The Bible does shed light on that matter.

God’s covenant relationship with natural Israel was to cease before long. Therefore, the future Messianic Kingdom would not be restored to that unfaithful earthly nation. Jesus told his Jewish opposers: “The kingdom of God will be taken from you and be given to a nation producing its fruits.” (Matthew 21:43) Ten days after Jesus ascended to heaven, that nation was born. Holy spirit was poured out upon 120 of Jesus’ disciples, and thus they were anointed to be God’s “holy ones” and “joint heirs with Christ” in the coming Messianic Kingdom.—Daniel 7:13, 14, 18; Romans 1:7; 8:1, 16, 17; Acts 2:1-4; Galatians 6:15, 16.

For centuries Jehovah God dealt exclusively with natural Israel, time and again sending his prophets to the nation so that the people might turn from their wayward course. Finally he sent his Son, Christ Jesus, but the majority rejected him. Therefore, Jesus said to the unbelieving chief priests and Pharisees: “The kingdom of God will be taken from you and be given to a nation producing its fruits.”—Mt 21:33-43.

The apostle Peter clearly identified that “nation” as one composed of persons who had accepted Christ Jesus. (1Pe 2:4-10) In fact, Peter applied to fellow Christians the very words that had been directed to natural Israel: “You are ‘a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for special possession.’” (1Pe 2:9; compare Ex 19:5, 6.) All of them recognized God as Ruler and his Son as Lord and Christ. (Ac 2:34, 35; 5:32) They possessed heavenly citizenship (Php 3:20) and were sealed with the holy spirit, which was an advance token of their heavenly inheritance. (2Co 1:22; 5:5; Eph 1:13, 14) Whereas natural Israel was constituted a nation under the Law covenant, the “holy nation” of spirit-begotten Christians became such under the new covenant. (Ex 19:5; Heb 8:6-13) For these reasons it was most appropriate that they be called “a holy nation.”

answer: Lord this gets ridiculous and even disgusting how some Christians attempt to call Gd a liar by stating his ETERNAL covenant with Jews was ended.

NOTHING about the "trial" (and much of the 'gospels') is legit nor believable concerning Jews AND Romans, laws, cultures and religion

    1. A night trial was illegal in both Judea and the Roman Empire

    2. The basis for the charge of blasphemy against Jesus was unclear. This was necessary in order to prosecute according to Judean law.

    3. The witnesses against Jesus did not agree and accordingly a mistrial must be declared.

    4. A trial in a private residence was illegal in both Judea and the Roman Empire.

    5. The Sanhedrin did not have the right to condemn anyone to death at this time.

    6. A crucifixion would never have taken place at Passover.

    7. Jesus’ anticipation of his death as a covenant sacrifice is out of Greek mythology, not the Jewish religion.

    8. Pilate did not have a good reason to execute Jesus as “King of the Judeans.”

    9. Again, there was only one high priest. There were no high priests.

    10. There was no such thing as the high priest(s) joining in on the mocking of a prisoner while the prisoner is being punished.

    11. There was no such custom in Judea as releasing a prisoner at Passover.

    12. Prisoners condemned to crucifixion would carry the cross-bar, not the whole cross.

    13. There was no such place as Golgotha at that time.

    14. Jesus, or anyone else, would not be known as “Christ, the King of Israel.” The Messiah concept was a completely different idea.

    15. Crucifixion was used only for seditionists, murderers and insurrectionists, not for religious reasons or “blasphemy”. Rome would never have approved of using crucifixion for punishment for local lawbreakers, only for those who were out to overthrow the Empire. Judean religious law as very specific as far as punishment for blasphemy. The punishment for blasphemy was stoning to death and the hanging of the body by the neck from a tree or impaling it on a stake.

    16. Roman law denied burial to a crucified man consequently, Pilate would never have given Joseph of Aramathia permission to take Jesus’ body for it would have violated Roman laws.

    17. When Jesus entered Jerusalem prior to the Passover, it was during the Feast of the Booths and that is the reason that the people were waving palm branches and yelling “Hosannah.”

    Wow!

    1) It was the Romans who executed Jesus. Crucifixion was the standard method by the Romans of killing their enemies.

    2) Will you people please stop with the Chosen nonsense already? Chosen does not mean special or better or superior - only Christians say that; Jews never do. The more correct way of looking at it is that HaShem offered his Torah to the peoples of the Earth and the Jews chose to follow it.

They are his chosen, and Jesus died for them -

"And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all, Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not. And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;" (John 11:49-51)

See everything through faith's eye. Even when they cried "let his blood be upon us" - they didn't know what they were saying, because it is the Lord's blood applied to our sins that saves us!

I think people are unaware of the fact that God sent Jesus to die for the sins of the world. They seem to think that Jesus was just some guy who was unlucky but smart . . . something like that.

Jesus was sent from the Father in order to preach the good news (Isaiah 61:1-2) and suffer (Isaiah 53). It wasn't just happenstance.

They're not. God divorced them in A.D. 70 like He had foretold through Jesus, Joshua, Jeremiah, Daniel, and other prophets. Now God's chosen people are those that have the faith of Abraham, i.e. 'the remnant" or "the church."

    Remember according to Christianity -

"For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh. But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from men, but from God." (Rom 2:28-29)

If you read Romans 9-11 you'll see Paul saying that some people of natural Jewish descent were cut off from God and the covenant so that room could be made for the Gentiles to come in. He also makes the case that you're a son of Abraham IF you have the faith of Abraham. Having Abraham's blood in your veins isn't enough to be considered a true Jew in God's eyes.

    And Jesus said,

"Truly I say to you, I have not found such great faith with anyone in Israel. I say to you that many will come from east and west, and recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven; but the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” (Matt 8:10-12)

    Luke 23:33-35

    King James Version (KJV)

33 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.

34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

Jesus was just a minor cult leader who was aggrandized after his death by people who'd never met him. The New Testament wasn't even written in Aramaic, it was written in Koine Greek. Jesus (originally Jeshua/Joshua) was a similar figure to David Koresh or L. Ron Hubbard, a cult leader with popular following. Just like the Scientologists are doing today, his history was rewritten to make him a divine figure, and to attract a mass following.

In real life he was just a man, leader of one of the many religious cults that came into conflict with the Romans and the Jewish religious authorities. Religious cults such as the Essenes had been obsessed with a "messiah" since around 200 BC, almost like the "end of days" cults you see in America now, so Jeshua just represented a useful messianic "figurehead" for a cult - since he was dead, he made a perfect focus as his story could be rewritten to suit the needs of the cult leaders, just like the original text in Josephus was changed by later christian copiers to make it fit the story.

As there is no "God", there can be no "God's chosen people" - it's all just bronze-age folk beliefs.

At one time they were his chosen people, but after denying him they weren't. (Matt.23:37 & 38) Jehovah established a new arrangement, that allowed people of all nations to be counted as his people as long as they followed Christ's example. (Rev.7:9)

    There was no such person.

Jews have no concept of being Gd's chosen, making us superior people. We were chosen to keep his Torah. That's all. We never claimed this made us superior people.

    But you already knew that...
