Revelation was never meant to be taken literally. It was meant to inspire and reassure Christians living under Roman persecution. Like other writings, it teaches Christians the strength needed to overcome whatever hardships they may encounter in life. Given it's anti-Roman content, it's surprising that Revelation ever made it into the New Testament.

How do we know that the symbolic woman named Babylon the Great, described in the Bible book of Revelation, pictures all false religion? Consider the evidence:

    ● She could not be a literal woman because the imagery in Revelation is in the form of “signs,” or symbols.—Revelation 1:1.

    ● Babylon the Great sits on waters, which represent “peoples and crowds and nations.” (Revelation 17:1, 5, 15) A literal woman cannot do that. False religion, however, gets its support from its huge membership.

    ● This symbolic woman is a “great city that has a kingdom over the kings of the earth.” In other words, she is organized and has international influence.—Revelation 17:18.

    ● A spiritual harlot, Babylon the Great forms alliances with “the kings of the earth.” Moreover, these mourn her destruction. (Revelation 17:1, 2; 18:9) So she cannot be a political entity.

    ● The commercial leaders also mourn her destruction. (Revelation 18:15) Hence, she cannot be a secular commercial power.

    ● The Bible describes the blending of the worship of God with a love for the world as spiritual adultery. (James 4:4) Babylon the Great fits that profile. Also, she promotes spiritism, a religious practice.—Revelation 18:23.

    ● The ancient city of Babylon, after which Babylon the Great is named, was a profoundly religious city.—Isaiah 47:1, 12, 13; Jeremiah 50:1, 2, 38.

Thus, we can say with confidence that Babylon the Great pictures the combined false religions of the world.

    Revelation is filled with symbolism.

Babylon is simply a false religion. any religion that does not follow the 10 commandments or believes in Salvation by works.

America is represented in Revelation 12:16, where it says, "but the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood with the dragon had spewed out of his mouth".

People were being so badly persecuted during the middle ages, that they fled from religious persecution, and came to America , that's what was represented when it says, "the earth helped the woman"

America is also represented in Revelation 13 11 and 14, 15 because it will be one of the first to pass harsh laws, against the true Christians, America will become a persecuting power in the end times.

Remember, Revelation opens up with a statement of the TIME of fulfillment. It does not say, "In 20 centuries..." instead it says... "soon." Jesus attests to this imminence when He says "I come quickly."

Revelation was not written to us living today... we are reading the ancient letter addressed to the 7 churches in the Roman province of Asia (in the 1st Century.)

I recommend you read "Who is This Babylon" by Don K Preston. See link.

Babylon the great was wayward Jerusalem the great spiritual harlot. The city that killed the prophets and where Christ was killed. True to prophesy she was destroyed by the Roman beast in 70 CE.

No it has to be in Iraq. America, China and Japan will be destroyed as world powers. That leaves the Hot-spot of the Middle East to grow in power. (And the city will have power to kill Christians for their faith). Christians will not go with the One World Church Movement that combines all religions into one belief system of a god creator and god of love.

No. Revelation also features an English speaking eagle, so I wouldn't bank too much on it.
